[ Student Testimonials ]

Luke Ericson - Former Chief Operating Officer at Gibson Guitar

“Will has been the de facto guitar teacher at Gibson for years - teaching many on the team and their kids, myself included. We became fast friends and I always looked forward to our lessons. Will makes guitar fun and approachable for all levels.

Tom Harwell - Student of 2 Years Focusing On the Grateful Dead’s Catalog

“My lesson will Willie is one of my favorite times of the week.  He teaches me songs I have loved all my life and his encouragement and accompaniment makes even my playing (and singing) sound great.  My son, my daughter and I have all been students. Willie has a gift for all ages and skill levels. Thank you!”

John Case - Current Student and Retired Army Ranger

“I had my concerns about starting guitar lessons at age 70.  Will has been a great instructor.  His friendly, low key style has made the lessons enjoyable and I’m playing songs that I never thought I would be playing in such a short period of time.”

Craig Menzie - Current Student of 2 Years

“As a high school tennis coach, I get to coach kids that have vast differences of skill and experience.  Willie teaches guitar to professional music artists and true beginners and he makes all of them feel comfortable.   He makes learning and playing fun for all!  Wherever you are in your guitar journey, Willie meets you there and encourages to expand your skills.”

It All Begins Here

Alexander performs Allman Brothers “Blue Sky” Note for Note

Alexander has been a student of mine since he was a 6th grader. To say that he is turning into a full Fledged rock star is an understatement. Aside from me filling in a few gaps he transcribed this song on his own. He is incredibly gifted and very versatile in many genres of music. He is a junior at Ensworth.

Lola & Mason perform Patty Griffin’s “Long Ride Home”

Lola started with me as a beginner when she was a sophomore in high school. She just graduated from Ensworth and is attending Wake Forest. She has developed into a fantastic guitar player and singer.

Mason started with me when she was a 4th grader! She graduated from Harpeth Hall in 2024 (she was chosen Lady of the Hall) and is now a student at Auburn University.

[ About Will ]

I was born and raised in Nashville and have been here my entire life. I’ve been playing music since middle school. Most of my friends and I were done with sports before we were even teenagers. I was 14 the first time I played a writers night at the Bluebird. In high school I played in a bluegrass band and a rock band. Being able to surround myself with so many great musicians, being able to play every day of the week, and learning about so many different genres of music is a byproduct of growing up in Nashville. I graduated from Belmont University with a Commercial Music degree and spent my 20’s as a full time road musician. I have also played an infinite amount of writers nights while doing a fair amount of session work.

Teaching has been a full time endeavor for over a decade now. To watch young people grow and to have music become a part of their identity is an honor. Likewise it’s amazing to work with adults and see them continue their personal development and to help them see it’s not too late to learn how to play. It is my firm belief that music education (and the arts in general) is a long term investment for everyone.

Music changes people’s perspective and their lives.
